Serge Bennathan founded the Vancouver based company Les Productions Figlio in 2006 after spending 16 years as the artistic director of Toronto’s Dancemakers. This 12-time Dora Award nominee (two-time winner) incorporates dance, theatre, music, multi-media, visual art and literary works into his choreographic creations. The company has a repertoire of seven full-length works including Just Words which premiered in Vancouver earlier this year. We discuss his blending of media, creative process and how it relates to Just Words in particular. This fall Serge is presenting the piece at the Ottawa Dance Directive and at The Citadel in Toronto.
